| Superchargers and Supercharger Parts |
Superchargers add Power to your engine by forcing in more air than it would otherwise be able to draw in on its own aspiration. For this reason Supercharging is sometimes termed Forced Induction as would be the case with Turbocharging also. A Supercharger is driven from the crank to create air pressure which is pushed into the engine and when added with the appropriate amount of fuel, creates a greater amount of combustion.
Superchargers are very popular in Race Cars and now also in Street Cars to make more Power and Torque to improve Acceleration without needing a huge capacity engine. This allows for better fuel economy and greater efficiency because the Supercharger only uses more fuel when performance demand is high. When just cruising around the Supercharger is not working the engine hard and therefore only using minimal fuel as if the engine were in its naturally aspirated format.
Popular Makes of Superchargers include:
- Sprintex - Powerdyne - Eaton M90 - Whipple - Vortech - Novi
Prices for Superchargers range from as little as $2000 and go upto $7000 depending on application and requirements.
Superchargers are therefore popular these days as a Replacement for Displacement.
